Wow! That sounds really fun Quinn! I love festivals like that.
My favourite celebration (besides Christmas) would have to the Moomba Parade in the city... Sometimes. My parents occasionally work as crowd marshals when it's on, so my sister, best friend and I get to stay there until early hours of the morning. We get to go behind the scenes with the marshaling staff too. There are rides (scary scary scary), food, concerts, game stalls, shops, etc. I think they have fireworks and river competitions too.
It's not as glamorous as I made it out to be, but it was fun. [/blockquote]

That does sound fun I feel like anything with fireworks is kind of automatically fun. One of my best friends just had her first kiss with her boyfriend on the beach on the 4th of July during a fireworks show. Cutest. Thing. Ever. So today, I went to the beach and burned a bunch of old schoolwork in a fire pit (it's a tradition) and ate a bunch of cake with my friends. It was a good day. What have you all been up to?

That sounds like the cutest first kiss EVER. Fairytale stuff.
Oh, I wish we were allowed to start fires and burn our schoolwork here, but with the bush fires, no fires are allowed to be started at all. Australia is too dry and too flammable.
Today I watched Toy Story 3 and did a bit of shopping. It was a good day. 8)

Ooh, I love shopping. What did you get?
Yeah, we can only really do it on the beach because most of the island is covered in forest, but since I live in the Pacific Northwest, which is like the rainiest place on earth (we actually have a rain forest), they aren't really that worried about fires. Still, we also rarely get sun. It's been in the upper fifties for most of the summer. Only now is it actually getting warm. So there are perks to living somewhere hot and dry XP

I brought two books (Wolves of the Beyond: The Lone Wolf and A Guide to the Great Ga'Hoole Tree) and went with my Mum to buy some blankets and lay-by some stuff. 8) We got some video games and movies.
There are no perks to living in a hot and dry country. Especially when it's the skin cancer capital. Fireworks, bonfires, campfires - and sometimes even barbecues - are almost illegal. Tons of people die every year because of the bushfires. I'd do anything to live back in a rainy place and rainforests are beautiful.

That sounds pretty sweet. I love buying books!
Well, I really like living here, but it gets to be kind of a drag sometimes when we only get about 1 month of possible swimming time and we live on an island. Plus, when the weather finally is warm enough, the beaches are all completely crowded. So maybe there should just be a better balance between hot and dry and wet and cool. Maybe that's why people like California so much...

I always thought California was just hot. Perhaps that's the only side of it television shows.

aww, that kiss sounds soo cute! My first kiss was probably the worst. Movie theater. Cute at the time, though, haha. I've always wanted to go to California, it sounds so pretty. I might go there in August, which is coming up.

Well, it depends on where you are, really, but it's actually really nice in the spring and fall. I have a lot of family down there, so I visit pretty often. The mountains are gorgeous all year around, because in the winter they are snowy and in the summer they are hot, but not overly so, so it's great for hiking or swimming. I still prefer Washington, though I dunno, my first kiss was at a party. Not special at all. Then again, I didn't really want it to be... movie theater is at least, presumably, on a date?
