START THE SHOW 9:17 P.M.
The lounge was sold out for tonight. Though it was a small time venue, it was still an impressive feat. The wait staff had their hands full serving the appetizers and drinks to the patrons that were scattered about tables and standing areas waiting for the lights to dim and the show to begin. The bar was crowded with those that weren’t lucky enough to find seats as their ordered that Gin and Tonics or Coronas and toasted to the good life as the show was getting ready to start. Women slid phone numbers on napkins or shied away from men out here looking for a mate. Whether it was for life, or just for the night, the singles scene at this place was one of the best in town seeing as how it was a more upscale establishment. The futuristic yet modern look of the room was completely with triangle shaped benches, abstract artwork, orange space pod type booths, and the staff wearing their shiny suits and skirts. A few familiar faces were scattered throughout the crowd. What was it that brought all of these people here?
Behind the curtain and down the hall sat a young man who was the draw for this evening. He looked in the mirror at himself and took a deep breath before closing his eyes and lowering his head so that he’d be staring at the ground had his eyelids not blocked his vision. He said a short prayer to himself as he heard a knock at the door. Turning around and walking toward it, he expected it to be someone letting him know that it was time to go on stage.
Rashad’s music career was finally becoming what he wanted it to be. He was getting ready to blow. He had created a buzz and was a local celebrity. So when he opened the door and saw a girl standing there with hardly any clothes on, he wasn’t surprised. He wasn’t at the phase yet where he should get security, but even though he wasn’t necessarily famous, there were a few girls that wanted a piece of him. As she tried to hug him, he hugged her back. She screamed in his ear. In the most polite way possible he asked her to back up and allow him to get ready for the show. She made him promise that she could get backstage later on and so he did. Closing the door, he needed to focus but it was time.
Approaching the stage, he peeked out to see that there wasn’t an empty table. He had gone through sound check already and his band was ready. Doing a quick vocals warm up to make sure that he could go, he cleared his throat and stretched out a little bit. It was show time. The lights lowered and the crowd came to a hush. The cymbals would chime giving the stage hands the cue to draw back the curtain. As the curtain came back, a loud horn would echo through the room and the spotlight would shine directly into his eyes causing him to squint. The horn grew louder as well as the light. Diving off of the stage something was wrong.
IT WAS ALL A DREAM
As his body hit the ground, he rolled down the hill and underneath into a brush hidden from view. He could feel the familiar pains of shifting. His bones grew and reformed, taking away his paws as he grew feet. His lower back cracked as his canine body morphed so that he was no longer a four legged creature, but had the proper spine and hips to stand on two feet. Clenching his teeth together, they would change from fangs to regular canines, and then rest of his teeth would take on their normal shape. His eyes opened as well as his mouth as the pain was becoming unbearable. Most people didn’t want to hear noise first thing in the morning. Imagine what it must feel like to have your entire skeleton change before you even open your eyes.
Breathing heavily, he looked around. He had done it again. He had no idea where he was. He had no idea how he got here. Confused at first, he sat up and placed his head in his heads and shaking it side to side. Getting the cobwebs loose, there was no point in dwelling on how he got there. He already knew. The sleep shifting was getting worse. There was nothing he could do about that, but first thing was first. You’re not allowed to walk the streets naked. He would have to find something to wear. Covering his man parts with his hand, his other hand would reach back in an attempt to cover up his butt, he peeked out to see if there was anyone around. His bare feet would hit the pavement as he made his way into a bush.
A couple lay together on a blanket. The picnic basket meant they had a lovely evening together enjoying finger foods and fruits or something. As one got up and went to the portapotty, the other walked a few steps away and got on the phone. Like a ninja, his naked form sprang from the bushes. Darting across the field, he’s safely get to the woods and begin the trek back toward school. He had a good sense of direction and even though he wasn’t in his wolf form, he could follow familiar smells back to the apartment.
It would seem as though his afternoon nap had turned into another sleep walking wolf adventure. Luck was on his side as no one saw him shift, and that’s when he realized that he didn’t have any keys. Staying near a bush near the door, all he could do was wait for someone to go by. It was crazy how he ended up in a predicament like this. Since Verge was near the woods, it made it easier, but eventually he’d have to make the trek toward Origin. Hopefully someone would come by soon. Hopefully this person would be willing to help. Seeing as how a naked dude standing in the bushes would fall under the category of creepy, he wouldn’t be surprised if it was security that ended up giving him a helping hand.
As this thought crossed his mind, he saw a woman approaching, he didn’t recognize her, so he called out to her only to be completely ignored. A man came by and he tried to get his attention but the guy simply looked at him and went about his business. This was definitely more of a pain in the ass then he thought it would be. 2 more people would leave him stranded. One actually stopped to listen to what he had to say, but simply shook his head and walked off. And then he was by himself for a little. But all was not lost, someone was approaching. Leaning out from the bushes, he cleared his throat and parted his lips as he was preparing to speak the only thing that could come to mind at the time.
”Excuse me, Miss. I could really use some help.”
