As a roleplaying site, there's bound to be rules. They're inevitable. You need to read them or you'll really get in trouble. Fortunately for you, I am a nice person. I'm not going to throw a fit if you skip the boring roleplaying rules if you've read them countless times before.
Roleplaying Rules
1. The correct use of the English language is a brilliant, awe-inspiring thing. Please, spell properly (use a spell check if you need to!), use the correct grammar and add those lovely little marks known as punctuation. If you accidentally spell a word wrong now and then, I won't bite your ear off, but if you T4lK LyKK d1ss!!!11! you will receive an account suspension.
2. Under very strict circumstances will you be allowed to power-play. I expect others to give you written permission before you do. You will get a warning if you go against this rule.
3. Perfect characters are one of the most annoying things in the world. Please refrain from using Mary or Gary. Make your character plain yet interesting so that people will want to genuinely talk to you. (This being said, no outrageous traits, please.)
4. Violence, drama and romance is permitted, but please keep things low-key. Some people have limits, while others would prefer not going into detail for some scenes. If you have something graphic you want to roleplay, then send a private message or find another site to write it (then come back).
5. Naturally, follow the Proboards rules. I'll happily suspend your account if you put my hours of hard work in danger!
6. I do not like swearing, but if you keep things on the low-down out of character and reasonable in character, then I don't mind curse words. Warnings will be issued for the overuse of language out of character.
7. Under very strict circumstances will you be allowed to post one-liners. The average amount I want in one post is three paragraphs (paragraphs need to have at least four sentences in them). If you go higher, great; if you go lower, that's fine, but watch your count, please. (Try a 150 word count per post.)
'Shifter Rules
1. Unless it is the main focus of a particular roleplay, you are not to reveal yourself knowingly to a human. Unknowingly is fine. If a human sees a 'shifter shift, then it is protocol to kill that human as quickly as possible.
2. A 'shifter can only ever morph into one animal. The only exception is if one animal is related closely to the other, but even then, a 'shifter is at risk of being stuck between the two animal forms and their human form. It is considered safer just to shift certain parts of your body between the two animal forms.
3. Even with the excuse of instincts, it is a crime for a 'shifter to kill a fellow 'shifter. The killing (or eating) of a fellow 'shifter is considered pathetic and/or cannibalism and will result in the killer being hunted down and killed. Killing or eating a 'shifter without permission will result in an account suspension.
4. Killing (or the eating of) a fellow 'shifters pet is considered pathetic and/or cannibalism. If you kill a 'shifters pet without the roleplayers permission and they decide to complain, you will get a warning. This is a form of power-playing and will not be tolerated without consent. (Stranger's pets are still allowed to be killed.)
Expectations Of You
As a member of this site and as a 'shifter, you are expected to care for those around you, human or non. You are to care for other roleplayers as if they were your own siblings or your best friends. To bring fictional rivalries between your characters into the realm of virtual reality will be frowned upon and seen as immature. You are expected to treat others as you would like to be treated.
Common sense is rare enough to be a superpower right now, but you are expected to use it. Take into account the fact that some people may believe in different things. You will not tease or bully others for what they believe in, you will feign interest and put up with it. If a roleplay is heading towards a difficult situation, take into account how others might feel about this. Can't? Then ask them, they were probably thinking about it as well.
Overall, you are expected to be a decent human being. You need to write like you've never written before and socialize like your life depended on it. I've met some of the greatest people in the world through art and roleplaying. Now it's you turn.
