The following are facts (sometimes rules) about our shapeless 'shifters. Some frequently asked questions are incorporated into these facts, so be sure to read these! It'll save you the hassle of asking later!
-Shifting is often painful. Depending on your shift species, you will experience more pain than others. The shifting process takes longer for inexperienced 'shifters and can last for about three seconds for one who is experienced. The pain of shifting is not visible. The 'symptoms' are within the 'shifters head.
If your shift animal is smaller than the average human, you will feel like you are being crushed, a severe burning will envelope your skin and you will find it hard to breathe. On the plus side, your spine is also contorting, so you often don't hear the cracking and popping of your body.
If your shift animal is larger, your skin will feel tight, you will get a severe headache and you will feel bloated. Larger shift species often feel like they will vomit at any time and can suffer diarrhea during any shift while inexperienced. This can be embarrassing, but the pain is much less severe than that of a smaller shift.
Shift animals similar to that of a human will experience less pain - they will shiver vigorously and feel their bones snapping and realigning. During their shift, their senses are heightened, so everything is amplified.
-Again, depending on the size of the 'shifters other species, their clothes may or may not be affected.
Smaller shift species tend to disappear within their clothes and must find a way out of them. There have been reports of 'shifters suffocating this way, but there is still very little risk.
Larger shift species will explode from within their clothes. This is dangerous, because any human witnesses will need to be killed.
Medium shift species may find it hard to escape their clothing, because they can become trapped around the neck and suffocate. This happens on a yearly basis (about one fatality a year).
-As previously mentioned, humans must not see a shift. Human witnesses are to be killed, purely to protect the 'shifters. It is a difficult and horrible job, but it needs to be done. There is a special team (recruited, trained and controlled by MyShape Inc.) that deals with covering up the killings and enforces this 'shifter 'rule'.
-Once in their animalistic form, 'shifters can not talk to each other. If they are of the same species, they can communicate as that species does, but not through English. (Example: Wolves will use scent, cats use body language, etc.)
-Pets do not get killed within an apartment building. It is highly frowned upon to attack a neighbors pet and, if done, can and will get you kicked out of the building. The killing of a pet is seen as pathetic and sometimes even cannibalism. However, if an animal is a stray and/or not owned by one of the 'shifters, it's fine.
More of these will be added as time goes by. Please, when roleplaying, follows these. These impact your character as well as everyone elses!
